“I’ve spent most of my working life as an epidemiologist in the realms of infectious diseases, malaria control, and maternal and child health.  But now, I am energized by the idea of using my science background to contribute to a more inclusive world. Approaching my fifties, I’ve felt, sometimes sharply, the constraints of a world designed without enough female input.  All too often, I’ve heard the same mantra: “Just wait, change is on the horizon.” But as I take stock of where things are now, I find the glaring gap in data surrounding women’s health and fundamental needs is unsettling, and I’m motivated to bridge it. Waiting is no longer an option. I feel moved to step into the arena and champion the world I wish to inhabit.
