Can HRT help with weight loss?

I can’t lose weight and was hoping HRT would help. So, here’s the deal. I’ve got Hashimoto’s, and I’m on medication for it. I’m 44, and I thought I was hitting menopause, but surprise – Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT) brought my period back after almost two years of it being MIA. Been on HRT (estradiol patch, progesterone pill) since June, and let me tell you, I highly recommend it for anxiety, joint pain, and just being less cranky.
Now, onto the struggle. I’m no stranger to the workout scene – five days a week, heavy lifting, minimal cardio. I’ve done the whole macro counting and calorie tracking thing, lost weight like it was nothing. But here’s the kicker: my primary says I’m overweight, cut carbs. And now, I’m contemplating cutting dairy because, why not? Maybe it’s inflammatory.
The frustrating part? Nothing seems to be working. I pretend not to care, but the stress is real. I check my weight, and it’s either the same or more. It’s been two weeks on metformin, and the scale remains stubbornly unchanged.
Now, the big question – who do I turn to next? Another doctor? A nutritionist, perhaps? Heck, I’m even considering a psychiatrist because this whole situation has me spinning. Dealing with a thyroid issue and then menopause a year later – I was promised HRT would help with weight loss, but my belly is still doing its own thing. So, here I am, seeking advice. And please, spare me the “just eat less” spiel – I need real solutions.
