'Hot flash' is a misleading term

‘Hot flash’ is a misleading term for some women at least. I realise that many women get a few minutes of hot flashes. However my experience has been that those ‘flashes’ last for much longer than that – maybe even one hour. Typically, during the day I get a really hot face and hot arms and also a rush of panic/anxiety that happens right before the hot flash. During the ‘flash’ my face can be hot to touch.

Sometimes. just my face will get hot for an hour. When that is happening my face goes bright red, and I have this feeling that my skin is on fire from the inside out. This all came on when I hit my early 40s and has been happening for a couple of years now.

The only solution I have found is to avoid alcohol and caffeine.
